Colonna coffee is taking over! So excited to have this esteemed roaster take over our grinders from Monday! We also be holding a free cupping (tasting) of the coffees on Monday the 15th at 6:30pm in Ellon.
We love coffee. We love the different flavours, different processes, different origins, different brew methods, .... the list is endless. Usually all our coffee is roasted each week for us by the incredible Artisan Roast in Edinburgh. They do an awesome job at finding amazing coffees from all over the world, bringing them back to Scotland and roasting them to perfection for us and for that we love them!
We are gong to shake it up a little though and starting this Monday, the 8th of July, Colonna coffee roasters is staging a takeover of all our grinders! You may have heard of a tap takeover where a brewery takes over all the taps at a bar, well we are turning on it it head and having a grinder takeover!
Colonna is a coffee roastery based in Bath that was set up by Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood. He has won the UK barista championship title three times as well as getting to the final of the world championships an additional three times. He is well known for his must visit coffee shop in Bath and not too long ago set up a coffee roastery too. Like us they are driven by how exciting and incredible coffee can be and want to keep exploring all it can offer.
The structure of our cafes' menus will stay unchanged with El Mirador from El Salvador becoming the main espresso coffee in both cafes. This is complimented by two different coffees in each cafe. Both will be available on filter and also one of them will be available as a second espresso option should you wish to change up your flat white or latte, or dive in and explore the nuances of that coffee on espresso.
To add something a little bit special, we have a very rare and special coffee coming too! We have a naturally processed caturra catui (the coffee varietal) from a famous farm, Hartmann estates in Panama. This is a world renowned coffee farm that has produced some utterly exceptional and sought after coffees over the years and so we feel very lucky to have one for you to try. It will be available as a filter for a slightly higher price of £5 or you can get one on us!
With seven new and exciting coffees to try you can grab a stamp on the cards available at the counter for each one you have tried and when you have tried them all you get this very special coffee on us!
If you fancy trying all these coffees at the same time Jonny is going to be running a cupping (that is what a coffee tasting is called!) on Monday the 15th at 6:30pm in the Ellon cafe. We will chat a little about the coffees, and then taste them all (spitting is totally ok if you don't want caffeine at that time of night!) The cafe will be open as usual so feel free to hang around after for a coffee, beer or some dinner!
If you love these coffees they will also be available to pick up as beans which we can grind for you, or alternatively as capsules in both cafes.
